Hello South Wind

Well today is the ultimate calm before the storm situation. Tomorrow I leave for a Las Vegas new years, sure to be a brain melting and life expectancy killing experience! I can't wait it will be amazing. But for now I am doing everything in my power to stay calm and balanced. Despite waking up and listening to Don Rimini's new Playboy Xmas mix I have rebounded and now find comfort with the sounds of Goldfrapp, Lykke Li and other various muses. I don't know what will happen to me in the coming days but today I am excited to relax and feel a sense of accomplishment. Here are some pieces that are putting my mind at ease:

Vanish The Rock

So I'm only 10 posts in and I'm already in trouble from the Google police?? Im a bit confused, it seems one of my posts has been deleted but I don't know why I would not get a warning. All is well, I still have much to say. so over the weekend I garnished my pea coat with rain while walking the streets of San Francisco doing some Christmas shopping. It is nice not having a girlfriend right now because it really lets me shop for me! Loved ones always come first of course though. Winter in the city is truely majestic, from the many lights to the constant bustle it never dissapoints. Although many horns are always sounding and people are rushing, I find the most appropriate music to be that which helps one islate themselves and find a little bit of comfort in the storm.
Enjoy.

Hard Core Girls

Cazals - Somebody Somewhere (With The Lovely Lou Doillon)

After spending my youth exposed to the over-saturated 'Perfect 10' type models found in the realm of MTV and the other mainstream media outlets clouding my mind it is no surprise that as I've grown up, I find the most beautiful girls not to be the ones taken straight off the cover of the latest Maxim or Playboy magazine. Of course, most of my friends will still agree that my favorite muses as of late are universally stunning, but they do hold a unique place over the Las Vegas style lookalikes of the world. It is the Lou Doillon's and Alexa Chungs that gives me dream.

Oh. music. almost forgot.

+Lord Cornelius+

Finally. What many of us have unpatiently waiting for. The new Bloody Beetroots single Cornelius! True to form the blistering Italian duo melt the brain with this song, complementary to the upcoming music documentary. I have yet to see them live, something I cannot take for much longer. Bless it:

Danger Danger!

Sometimes when you buy an album, tracks resonate so much more than if you just download them individually. I for one am more inclined to listen to the tracks all the way through and in turn get a lot more out of them. Point is, that is exactly what is happening today. Got my hands on the Starskee My Way ep and one track is really jumping out at me in a way I hadn't noticed before. That of course is the Danger remix! I was beginning to lose faith in the graphic designer/producer's skills. His song 00h00 with Vyle was a disappointment to say the least and his Boys Noize wasn't much better. But alas! This, along with his new song 13h12 killlll it! The starskee remix is a bit more mellow but still rumbles through with a great beat. 13h12 really returns to the sound that drew me to Danger in the first place. Lucky lucky here they are for you!

Something About Les Petits Pilous

Third post in one day. Right now I am driven only by the sounds of Les Petits Pilous. Working with the Boys Noize Records crew, their track Wake Up has garnered play from the likes of Crookers, Justice, Boys Noize and Soulwax. I don't think I could have listed a more 'whose who' of the electronic scene if I tried all day. Both their remixes of Justice's DVNO and the Chromeo track Bonafied Lovin are monumental as well. It may well be monday but until winter quarter starts up it is friday night for me.

....Blackbird Blackbird...

So I know this little blip has been around for a good minute but seeing as this blog literally sprouted up yesterday I feel rather obliged to share this with you. The paramount Seattle based Blackbird mens & womens boutique has finally launched a new online store! It is great to find an outstanding online mens store that isn't based out of Sweden, France or some other land separated by a rather large body of water.
check it out here

With The Sound of Fake Blood

The insatiable Fake Blood has joined Annie Mac for her famous Mini Mix production. The song selection is amazingly eclectic and well done. Its always great to see just what corners of the earth the great producers of the world go to draw influence on. The Busta manipulation...brilliant! Track list in comments!

Rain on a Sunday

Part of me really wants to post some songs up here that remind me of what I should be listening to on a nice quiet sunday night but I honestly can't bring myself to break away from the tracks that have kept me going through all the cigarettes and Anchor Steam I put in my body this weekend. So fuck it. Monday morning will be here soon enough and I want to salvage every last drop of weekend I can. My first real post, enjoy!

First up is a new track by the mysterious Goshi Goshi (Scrub Scrub in Japanese). Already being hailed by some as the new Fake Blood (seems rediculous seeing as the former has only been on the scene for around a year) Goshi Goshi has brought up a storm of sub genre house from both ages past and present to develop a track insanely catchy and punishing at the same time. The Lock Shot is guarenteed to be a major player in the year to come.

Goshi Goshi - The Lock Shot (Media Fire) 272

Here we find the thumping Tommie Sunshine & Udachi remix of the Audio Bully's new single
Dope Fiend. To say this track is heavy is an insult in understatement.

Audio Bullys - Dope Fiend (Tommie Sunshine & Udachi Remix) (Media Fire) 320

One producer that has increasingly drawn my attention is Das Glow. Don't know anything about the person behind the scenes but these two tracks should provide you with proof enough of sure talent.

Das Glow - Sunburnt (Media Fire) 320
The Micronauts - High Rise (Das Glow Remix) (Media Fire) 192
Herve has grown to be one of my favorite producers practically overnight. His various projects all result in songs full of pounding bass and bring one close to insanity. Here is a nice over view of some of his more recent projects and collaborations.
Shinichi Osawa - Detonator (Herve's UXB remix) (Media Fire) 320
Kidda - Under The Sun (Herve Remix) (Media Fire) 320
Action Man (Herve & Jesse Rose) - Under Your Skin (Media Fire) 320
Machines Don't Care - How Y'all Like Me Now (Media Fire) 320
Kissy Sell Out & Herve - Rikkalicious (Media Fire) 320
Last but not least the infamous crookers with two of their all time ugliest monsters.
Crookers - Lollypop (Sveglia) (Media Fire) 192
Crookers - Il Buono (Media Fire) 320

And Then There Was Light

Hello. My name is Thomas LaCroix and this is my blog Horns & Arrows. Hoping to ignite your sense of lust and creativity is the goal of this simple drum beat. I have always wanted a way to show and share the thousands of cooperating atoms that form objects of my imagination and insperation. So everyday, here in the times of Sister Winter I promise to bring forth the music, fashion, art and all other objects of attraction that bring the world to life. I suppose it would be irrisponsible to lead you blindely into my world so here are some of the things I love, I hope this helps you decide whether or not you may find any sense of kindred spirit with me.
The classifications of a certain musical genre seem to be so blended in this time so instead of writing down meaningless over generalized words like 'house' or 'rock n roll' I think a short and varied list of some of my favorites will do the trick! In no particular order: The Mystery Jets, Foamo, Danger, SebastiAn, Lykke Li, Minitel Rose, The Kills, Debussy, Van She, Das Pop, The Libertines, Santogold, Whitey, Soulwax, Bumblebeez, Cut Copy, The Presets, Empire of The Sun, M83, Mondkopf, Erol Alkan, Justice, Goose, Boys Noize, Goshi Goshi, Fake Blood, Iggy Pop, The Damned, The Bloody Beetroots, Crookers, Puzique, The Soft Boys, MGMT, Vue, Digitalism, Surkin, Klaxons, CLP, Flagrant Fowl, Tiga, Ratatat, Raphael Saadiq, Das Glow, MSTRKRFT, Poney Poney, The Rollin Stones Iggy Pop David Bowie blah blah blah blah.
I like alot of hip hop but probably won't post a massive amount of it. This blog is NOT just a music blog. My tastes in fashion, interiors, architecture, art, girls and booz all have an intertwining impact on my life and I hope to emphasize all of them. So, without further adieu I welcome you.
